ANTAS meeting, Harpenden,  23 October 2004 - Hon Sec's note on the organisation

It has been decided to take up the suggestion made by Dory Morgan (of the Hughenden Valley Residents' Association) in her article in the last Newsletter.  There will be no speaker, but after the formal business we plan to split the meeting into a number of small groups in order to discuss some of the key issues of concern to member societies and, perhaps, through a report-back session agree ways and means of tackling them.  At our last meeting we identified cross-cutting concerns, but these were mainly large-scale policy matters which can only be influenced, if at all, at the highest level. Ideally we would like the mini-groups at the next meeting to consider concerns which member societies can realistically hope to address.  An example is establishing an effective working relationship with the local planning authority. If you have thoughts on suitable topics, please send them to me in the next two weeks. I hope to include a topic selection exercise in the papers I will be sending out.
